Modern Living in Historic Marylebone: A Refurbished Apartment

As the world becomes more urbanized, living spaces are becoming more and more limited and with space at a premium, many people are choosing to refurbish existing properties instead of buying new ones. Recently, we had the pleasure of working with a new client and designing and managing the refurbishment of their new apartment in Marylebone, and we’re excited to share the details with you.

The apartment was in a historic building in the heart of Marylebone, one of London’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. The building itself, Macready House, is a beautiful structure that has been standing for over a century. However, the apartment had not been renovated in several decades and desperately needed an upgrade.

Our team set to work on designing a modern, functional space that would make the most of the apartment’s limited square footage. We created an open-plan living area that combined the kitchen, dining, and living spaces. This allowed for a more spacious feel, making the apartment seem larger than it actually was. We also incorporated plenty of storage space throughout the apartment, including a custom-made wardrobe in the bedroom.

One of the challenges of this project was working within the constraints of an older building and strict building management rules. For example, the apartment had a low ceiling height, so we had to be creative in our design choices to make the space more open and airy. We opted for lighter colours and materials, such as white walls and light wood flooring, to help reflect natural light and create a more spacious feel.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with the contractors to ensure that every detail we designed was replicated. We sourced high-quality materials and fixtures, including a modern, energy-efficient heating system and sleek, minimalist light fixtures. The end result is a stunning, modern apartment that perfectly blends contemporary design with the charm of a historic building.

In conclusion, we are thrilled with the final outcome of this project. Our team’s hard work and dedication paid off, and we were able to create a beautiful, functional living space for our client. The apartment in Marylebone now boasts a modern, minimalist design that maximizes space and functionality while retaining its historic charm. We hope this project will inspire others looking to refurbish their homes in a way that blends the old and the new.
